Hello My name is Jayla Hunter. This is my third year at Duke Ellington School of the Arts and I am super excited to see what the year holds as this is our first time back in the building in a year and a half . My first year I was able to go on field trips and met very important people because of the money we raised. If you choose to donate you will be helping my classmates and I get the training we need to be successful during our time at Ellington and beyond!
After my time at Duke Ellington I plan to become an actress on stage and film, and tell stories that change history. Later on in my life I want to develop and run an arts program in Prince George's County. The money I raise during this campaign will help with shows, studio spaces, and training we receive from our unpaid instructors . I would greatly appreciate it if you donate to our program, thank you in advance!
In the Theatre Department, students aren't just taught how to act. They are taught how to create the stories they want to see. They are given the tools to shape the world around them with their art. Ellington relies on the generosity of parents and donors to ensure that our students receive the highest level of pre-professional training and performance opportunities. Donations enable them to create sets, craft costumes, power technical capabilities, hire additional instructors, and fund classes with Master Acting Teachers like the renowned Professor Vera Katz.
