My Team: Second Years
Hello everyone! My name is Saquoya Gorham, a second year attending Duke Ellington School of the Arts within the Theatre department. Every single year at DESA, a fundraiser is set up to assist us with the equipment we need within our arts departments. DCPS only funds Ellington for our academic classes and academic teachers, so all of the funds that we raise will go to everything that needs to be funded within our departments. For the Theatre Department we need funds so that we can have beautiful, stimulating, and efficient productions, to pay our arts teachers, because our arts teachers aren't funded through DCPS, and for equipment needed to enhance our talents. It would mean a great deal to our department, and DESA as a whole, if you would kindly send any funds you can provide to help pay for the fundamentals that's needed for a productive school year. March for the arts! Art is essential to positive change in our society!
March
for the Arts, is the
Duke Ellington School of the Arts annual Theatre
Fundraiser.
Why do we fundraise?
In the Theatre Department, students aren't just taught how to act. They are taught how to create the stories they want to see. They are given the tools to shape the world around them with their art. Ellington relies on the generosity of parents and donors to ensure that our students receive the highest level of pre-professional training and performance opportunities. Donations enable them to create sets, craft costumes, power technical capabilities, hire additional instructors, and fund classes with Master Acting Teachers like the renowned Professor Vera Katz.
