Supporting: March for the Arts 2021 for Duke Ellington School of the Arts Project

My Team: Third Years

Campaign has ended.

Hello my name is Zoe Blanton and I am a junior. I have always viewed our society from a standpoint of what created it to be this way, not what am I currently facing. With many things in our life, the foundation is already set and we are building on it, as racism, sexism, and homophobia, and those we can’t change the past event. But we can change peoples perceptions of them now. At Ellington we do a lot of work focusing on getting people to ask themselves question to change their perception. We are learning the foundation to build on, we are learning about all of the amazing and powerful black artists that shaped that world we live in so in the future we’re can do amazing things. Now all we need is your heart to give assistance to make that possible.

March for the Arts, is the

Duke Ellington School of the Arts annual Theatre

Why do we fundraise?

In the Theatre Department, students aren't just taught how to act. They are taught how to create the stories they want to see. They are given the tools to shape the world around them with their art. Ellington relies on the generosity of parents and donors to ensure that our students receive the highest level of pre-professional training and performance opportunities. Donations enable them to create sets, craft costumes, power technical capabilities, hire additional instructors, and fund classes with Master Acting Teachers like the renowned Professor Vera Katz.
